BRANCH LIBRARY IN THE AGE OF INTELLIGENT INFRASTRUCTURES
ARCH 3015: 3rd year BArch studio at Virginia Tech
13-week project
Spring 2020-2021
How does the architecture of libraries adapt to the age intelligent infrastructure when contents of books and artwork are delivered in multiple media? While the Carnegie libraries helped to bring literacy to America in the 20th century, inequality in access to information and opportunities persists. How could local libraries counter the digital divide? This project examines these issues through the design of a 5,800-sf branch library in a racially mixed neighborhood of Kingsbridge in the Bronx, New York City.
